LÉ GEORGE BERNARD SHAW Detains Fishing Vessel North East of Howth

Today, the Naval Service Vessel LÉ GEORGE BERNARD SHAW (P64) detained an Irish registered fishing vessel approximately 20 nautical miles North East of Howth Co. Dublin. The detention was in relation to an alleged breach of fishing regulations.

The vessel is being escorted by the LÉ GEORGE BERNARD SHAW to Howth, where it will be handed over to An Garda­ Sí­ochána.

This is the seventh vessel detained by the Naval Service so far in 2019. The Defence Forces conduct at-sea fishery inspections in line with the service level agreement with the Sea Fishery Protection Authority, as part of its delivery of government services to the state.
