Return of LÉ William Butler Yeats (P63) from deployment on EUNAVFOR MED Operation Irini

There is a media opportunity to meet the crew of the L.É. William Butler Yeats alongside the East Wall at the Naval Base, Haulbowline, Co. Cork as they return from their 6-week deployment on EUNAVFOR MED Operation Irini in the Mediterranean

L.É. William Butler Yeats deployed as the Irish contribution to EUNAVFOR MED Operation Irini on Thursday 15th June.

The ship was tasked with Information, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations as well as Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) Operations during the 6-week deployment.

The Naval Service has developed significant experience through engagement with previous missions namely OP PONTUS (2015-2017) and ENFM OP SOPHIA (2018).

There will be photographic and interview opportunities with members of the crew on the day. See the ship coming back into the base, meet the crew and hear about the tasks and operations they conducted while on deployment and watch as they are reunited with their proud families.

Where: Naval Service Base, Haulbowline, Cork

When: 10.40 am on Sunday, 30 July 2023 (Media are asked to arrive NLT 10.40 am at the Naval Base main barrier where you will be met by the NS Press Officer and escorted to the area where you will see the ship coming in).
