Will I have to live in barracks?

General Service personnel & Apprentices:
Personnel will be required to live in barracks throughout the period of initial training. Upon completion of this training personnel can apply to live outside of the barracks

Officers and Officer Cadets:
Personnel will be required to live in barracks throughout the course of initial training. Upon commissioning, Officers can apply to live outside of the barracks.

How do I become a Naval Diver?

The Naval Diving Section is recognised throughout all the Emergency Services of the State as a highly efficient and professional component of the Naval Service. It is similarly recognised as having one of the most rigorous training courses in the Defence Forces and the Country as a whole. Their work brings them into contact with Emergency Services and the local populace throughout the Country where they are called upon for Search & Rescue Operations or to make safe and dispose of suspicious devices around the Coastline. This career path is not for the faint hearted and is open to all selected personnel who meet the rigorous medical, physical and military requirements for entry to the Diving Course and once they have completed basic and professional Branch Training, a daily allowance when diving and additional pay are paid to qualified indate Naval Divers.

What is involved in Army Recruit Training?

The Recruit Training Syllabus is designed to produce a physically fit, disciplined and motivated Two Star Infantry Soldier with basic military skills. Recruit training is foundation military training. It is twelve weeks in duration. It is followed by 3 Star training and at a later stage by Trained Soldier Specialist Training courses.

What is Involved Naval Service Recruit Training?

The Recruit Training Syllabus is designed to produce a physically fit, disciplined and motivated Ordinary Seaman with basic military skills. Naval Recruit training is foundation military training. It is 22 weeks in duration. It is followed by Trained Specialist Training courses.
