Wednesday 09 January 2013 - Army Bomb Disposal Team Makes Safe Viable Improvised Explosive Device.

An Army Bomb Disposal Team made safe a viable Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Tulla, Co Clare last night.

The Defence Forces deployed to Main Street, Tulla following a request from the Gardai; the area had been cordoned off by the Gardai and local residents were evacuated to a safe location.

The team arrived on scene at 11.00 pm and examined the device which was located in a private residence.

The viable device was made safe at the scene and the remains of the device have been handed over to the Gardai to assist with their investigations.

The scene was declared safe at 11.50 pm.

Other types of call outs would include conventional munition destruction such as old grenades discovered by members of the public, unstable chemicals and also suspect devices found to be hoaxes.
