Saturday 05 May, 2012 - Army Bomb Disposal Team Makes Safe Viable Improvised Explosive Device .

An Army Bomb Disposal Team made safe a viable Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Tallaght, Dublin in the early hours of this morning.

The Defence Forces deployed the team to a residential estate in the Greenhills Drive area of Tallaght following a request from the Gardai.

The team arrived on scene at 04.10am and examined the device which was located under a vehicle. 

The viable IED was made safe at the scene without the need for a controlled explosion; the scene was declared safe at 05.00am
and the team returned to base.

The remains of the device will be handed over to the Gardai to assist with their investigations.
