60 Years Peacekeeping1958 - 2018

This year marks the 60th Anniversary of Ireland's first Peacekeeping deployment in 1958.

Since then, Ireland have maintained the longest unbroken service on the front line of peace with over 70,000 individual tours of duty completed by the men and women of Óglaigh na hÉireann.

This year, we remember the 87 members of the Defence Forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of Peace.

Monday 07 December 2015 - Army personnel deployed in Co. Galway .

The Defence Forces are currenlty deployed to assist the local authorities in County Galway in the aftermath of Storm Desmond.

Ten personnel and two 6X6 Troop Carrying Vehicles (TCVs) are supporting flood relief efforts in Ballinasloe. Ten personnel and one 6X6 TCV are supporting flood relief efforts in Portumna and seven personnel and one 6X6 TCV are now deploying to Claregalway to support the efforts there.

Troops and transport assets remain on 'notice to move' in Finner Camp, Co Donegal, Galway, Limerick and Cork
