60 Years Peacekeeping1958 - 2018

This year marks the 60th Anniversary of Ireland's first Peacekeeping deployment in 1958.

Since then, Ireland have maintained the longest unbroken service on the front line of peace with over 70,000 individual tours of duty completed by the men and women of Óglaigh na hÉireann.

This year, we remember the 87 members of the Defence Forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of Peace.

Air Corps conducts Air Ambulance operation to the UK.

The Air Corps has conducted an Air Ambulance operation to the UK this morning.

A CASA maritime patrol aircraft transported a patient and HSE team from Baldonnel to RAF Northolt for onward transfer to Kings College Hospital, London.

The Aircraft departed Baldonnel at 10.30am and arrived in RAF Northolt at 11.45am.

This is the 51st Air Ambulance operation conducted by the Air Corps so far this year.

Meanwhile, a second Air Corps CASA, in addition to a number of Naval Service vessels, are continuing to search for the missing yacht “Golden Eagle” off the South West coast in the course of maritime patrol duties.
