60 Years Peacekeeping1958 - 2018

This year marks the 60th Anniversary of Ireland's first Peacekeeping deployment in 1958.

Since then, Ireland have maintained the longest unbroken service on the front line of peace with over 70,000 individual tours of duty completed by the men and women of Óglaigh na hÉireann.

This year, we remember the 87 members of the Defence Forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of Peace.

Air Corps Complete Air Ambulance Mission.

A patient was transferred on board an Air Corps AW 139 helicopter this evening from Castlebar Hospital, Mayo to Our Lady’s Children Hospital, Crumlin where it landed at 7.50pm.

The Air Corps crew utilised specialist Night Vision Goggles to complete the mission.

This is the 60th Air Ambulance mission completed by the Air Corps so far this year.

Air Corps pilots are the only pilots within the state who have the capability to fly using Night Vision Goggles.
