22 Mar 2014 - Army Bomb Disposal Team Rendered Safe Three Viable Improvised Explosive Devices.

An Army Bomb Disposal Team rendered safe three viable Improvised Explosive Devices (IED's) in Tallaght this evening.

The Defence Forces deployed the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team in response to a request from An Garda Sí­ochána after a suspect device was found outside a private residence in the Saint Dominics area of Tallaght.

A cordon and road closures were put in place for public safety, while a number of nearby houses were evacuated.

The team arrived on scene at 4.20 pm. The devices were made safe at the scene without the need for a controlled explosion and were brought to a safe military location for further examination. All component parts and items of an evidential nature will be handed over to the Gardaí­ to assist them with their investigation into the incident.

The scene was declared safe at 4.50 pm
