60 Years Peacekeeping1958 - 2018

This year marks the 60th Anniversary of Ireland's first Peacekeeping deployment in 1958.

Since then, Ireland have maintained the longest unbroken service on the front line of peace with over 70,000 individual tours of duty completed by the men and women of Óglaigh na hÉireann.

This year, we remember the 87 members of the Defence Forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of Peace.

Wed 10th April 2014 - Irish Defence Forces Musicians to Perform At 'Ceilúiradh'.

Irish Defence Forces musicians will perform tonight in ‘Ceilúiradh’, a celebration of Irish Music and Culture in the Royal Albert Hall, London in the presence of President Michael D. Higgins and the Duke and Duchess of Kent as part of the historic State Visit.

Irish Defence Forces musicians and pipe band will join with musicians from the Band of the Irish Guards for a special arrangement of ‘The Minstrel Boy’ as a historic highlight of this unique musical programme.

Other Performers and personalities involved in this unique concert will include Elvis Costello, Imelda May, Olivia O’Leary, Dermot O’Leary, Donal Lunny , Glen Hansard and Eimear Quinn amongst others. 

This concert will be streamed live on the RTÉ Player at 8.25pm and will be broadcast on RTÉ One Television 10.15 pm
