60 Years Peacekeeping1958 - 2018

This year marks the 60th Anniversary of Ireland's first Peacekeeping deployment in 1958.

Since then, Ireland have maintained the longest unbroken service on the front line of peace with over 70,000 individual tours of duty completed by the men and women of Óglaigh na hÉireann.

This year, we remember the 87 members of the Defence Forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of Peace.

Tuesday 18 September - The Air Corps completed a time critical Air Ambulance.

The Duty Officer received the request from the Ambulance Controller at 10.00pm and the Air Corps Gulfstream IV was airborne with the patient at 10.30pm.

'Irish 251' landed in Heathrow Airport at 11.15pm where they were met by an awaiting ambulance.

Once the patient was transferred into the care of the ambulance crew the Air Corps jet returned to Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel, landing at 2:20am.
