Saturday, 25th November 2017 - Army Bomb Disposal Team Make Safe Two Viable IEDs.

Earlier today, an Army Bomb Disposal Team made safe two viable Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) in Roxborough, County Limerick.

The Defence Forces deployed the Army Bomb Disposal Team following a request from An Garda Síochána. The Bomb Disposal Team arrived on scene at 4.10pm. To ensure public safety, a number of houses were evacuated and a cordon was put in place for the duration of the operation.

The devices were removed to a secure military installation for further examination and the scene was declared safe at 5.45pm.

items of an evidential nature will be handed over to An Garda Síochána to assist them with their investigations.

The Defense Forces Bomb Disposal Teams deal with other types of callouts that would include the destruction of a traditional munitions, such as old grenades found by members of the public, unstable chemicals and suspected devices that are found to be hoaxes.
