Friday, 08 June 2012 - Air Corps Complete Air Ambulance.

This afternoon the Air Corps completed its 50th Air Ambulance mission this year with the successful transfer of a patient from London to Dublin.

The Air Corps Learjet positioned from Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel, to RAF Northolt, London, earlier today accompanied by a specialist HSE medical team.

Once the patient was transferred into the care of this medical team, the Learjet, callsign ‘Irish 258’ departed the RAF base, getting airborne at 4.30pm and arriving in Casement Aerodrome at 5.35pm.

The aircraft was met by an ambulance in Casement Aerodrome and the patient completed their transfer to a hospital in Dublin by road.

This mission was the Air Corps’ third air ambulance to the UK this week, and the 50th of 2012, which has included national, international and transatlantic transfers of patients in several of the Air Corps aircraft.

The Air Corps maintains crews on standby 24/7 for these missions, in addition to their routine operations.
