60 Years Peacekeeping1958 - 2018

This year marks the 60th Anniversary of Ireland's first Peacekeeping deployment in 1958.

Since then, Ireland have maintained the longest unbroken service on the front line of peace with over 70,000 individual tours of duty completed by the men and women of Óglaigh na hÉireann.

This year, we remember the 87 members of the Defence Forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of Peace.

Air Corps Complete Two Air Ambulance Missions.

The Air Corps have completed two Air Ambulance missions today transporting patients from Ireland to the UK and from the UK back to Ireland.

The first mission involved the transfer of a patient and HSE team on the Air Corps Learjet from Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel to RAF Northholt for onward transfer to a London hospital. The Air Corps Learjet departed Casement Aerodrome at 7.30am and landed in RAF Northholt at 8.30am.

In the second mission the Air Corps Learjet remained at RAF Northholt to where a patient from a London hospital was transferred by road. The Air Corps Learjet departed RAF Northolt at 4.15pm and landed in Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel at 5.10pm.

These are the 56th and 57th Air Ambulance missions carried out by the Air Corps so far this year.
