60 Years Peacekeeping1958 - 2018

This year marks the 60th Anniversary of Ireland's first Peacekeeping deployment in 1958.

Since then, Ireland have maintained the longest unbroken service on the front line of peace with over 70,000 individual tours of duty completed by the men and women of Óglaigh na hÉireann.

This year, we remember the 87 members of the Defence Forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of Peace.

Air Corps complete Air Ambulance mission.

An Air Corps AW 139 helicopter has completed the transfer of a patient from Cork to Dublin this evening.

The Air Corps helicopter collected the patient and medical team at 3.50pm in Cork Airport and transferred them to Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel, landing at 5.15pm.

The mission was completed using specialist Night Vision Goggles (NVG).

This is the 68th Air Ambulance mission carried out by the Air Corps so far this year.

Air Corps pilots are the only pilots within the state with the capability to fly using NVG.
