60 Years Peacekeeping1958 - 2018

This year marks the 60th Anniversary of Ireland's first Peacekeeping deployment in 1958.

Since then, Ireland have maintained the longest unbroken service on the front line of peace with over 70,000 individual tours of duty completed by the men and women of Óglaigh na hÉireann.

This year, we remember the 87 members of the Defence Forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of Peace.

7th April 2015 - Irish Troops Return to Dublin Airport.

100 Irish troops from the 46th Infantry Group, United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) will return to Terminal One, Dublin Airport tomorrow, 7th of April at 10.30 pm, following a six month deployment to the Golan Heights.

The troops will arrive to Terminal One to be met by families and friends.

Their replacements, the 48th Infantry Group, finished their rotation to the Golan Heights this morning and will join their UNDOF colleagues in theatre.


The personnel will be met by their families and friends. The 46th Infantry Group are drawn primarily from the Army 2 Brigade, with personnel drawn mainly from the West and Midlands.
