Irish Troops Return to Ireland Following Six Month Deployment with UNIFIL to Lebanon

The 127th Infantry Battalion will conclude its six-month deployment with the United Nations Interim Force Lebanon (UNIFIL) on Tuesday the 26th of May, with the final rotation of personnel landing in Dublin Airport at 09.30pm to be met by their friends and families.
Their deployment to South Lebanon was characterised by a highly kinetic operational area in which the 127th Infantry Battalion personnel carried out their duties professionally, despite the volatility of the region.
There will be an opportunity to interview the Battalion Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Mark Lennon and other key personnel in addition to the excellent photo opportunities at Dublin Airport with returning troops being reunited with their families.

The 127th Infantry Battalion have operated in the IRISHPOLBATT Area of Operations (AO), during the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. Battalion personnel conducted framework operations throughout and were involved in multiple operations in support of other contributing countries to UNIFIL, such as the medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) of the wounded Ghanaian soldier and resupplying other United Nations Posts during volatile periods.
