Media Invite 25th of June 2026, 10.50am
Minister of State at the Department of Justice Home Affairs and Migration, Colm Brophy, will attend the Naval Service Officer Commissioning Ceremony in the Naval Base, Haulbowline, Cork on Thursday, 25th of June 2026, at 11.00am.
It is a very important and proud day for the members of the 64th Naval Cadet Class as they are awarded their Commissions. This represents the successful completion of almost two years’ intensive military and nautical training.
Cadets receiving commissions on the day are from Cavan, Cork, Dublin, Galway, Derry and Wexford.
The nine Cadets have completed a very challenging and rewarding course of Officer training which is comprised of a diverse selection of subjects such as navigation, seamanship, leadership, communications, marine engineering and naval warfare.
The Cadets have also completed sea time, gaining experience onboard the Naval Service fleet and commenced their first year of academic study for a Bachelor of Science in Nautical Science at the National Maritime College of Ireland.
Members of the media are invited to attend. There will be excellent opportunities for photographs and interviews from the event taking place in Haulbowline.
