60 Years Peacekeeping1958 - 2018

This year marks the 60th Anniversary of Ireland's first Peacekeeping deployment in 1958.

Since then, Ireland have maintained the longest unbroken service on the front line of peace with over 70,000 individual tours of duty completed by the men and women of Óglaigh na hÉireann.

This year, we remember the 87 members of the Defence Forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of Peace.

Thursday, 17th May 2018 - Irish Troops Return to Dublin Airport.

243 Irish troops from the 111th Infantry Battalion, United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) will return to T1, Dublin Airport, tomorrow, 17th  May at 4.30pm, following a six month deployment to South Lebanon.

The personnel will be met by their families and friends. The 111th Infantry Battalion are drawn primarily from 1 Brigade with personnel mainly drawn from the south of the country.

A total of 343 Defence Forces personnel deployed with the 111th Infantry Battalion. 100 personnel have already returned home having rotated with members of 112th Infantry Battalion.
