Wednesday 08 August 2012 - Naval Service Detain Fishing Vessel .

The Naval Service vessel L.É. CIARA detained an Irish registered fishing vessel approximately 30 nautical miles South of Ballycotton Co. Cork at approx midnight last night.

The detention was in relation to an alleged breach of technical fishing regulations.

The vessel was escorted by the L.É. CIARA to Cobh where it arrived this morning; the vessel will be handed over to the Gardaí later today.

The Naval Service have carried out 946 boardings, issued 38 warnings and detained 12 vessels so far in 2012.
