Monday 05th March 2018 - Update Weather Event.

The Defence Forces have deployed 1566 personnel and 506 vehicles in a range of tasks to support the civil authorities during the recent extreme weather event.

33 vehicles and 139 additional personnel were deployed today, supported by our personnel in barracks around the country.

The focus of Defence Forces operations today is to enhance mobility on secondary and tertiary routes in support of county councils, in particular, in counties Wexford, Wicklow and Kildare.

Some of the deployments today include the following:

  • Clearing snow and ice in Wexford Town and county
  • Clearing snow and ice in Blessington
  • Clearing snow and ice in Clane and Naas
  • HSE Staff Transfers in Waterford
  • Meals on Wheels deliveries in Westmeath.

Tuesday 06th March 2018, 5pm

The Defence Forces have deployed 1814 personnel and 533 vehicles in a range of tasks to support the civil authorities during the recent extreme weather event.

27 vehicles and 248 additional personnel were deployed today, supported by our personnel in barracks around the country.

The focus of Defence Forces operations today is to enhance mobility on secondary and tertiary routes in support of county councils, in particular, in counties Wexford, Wicklow and Kildare.

Some of the deployments today include the following:

  • Clearing snow and ice in Wexford Town and county
  • Clearing snow and ice in Blessington
  • Clearing snow and ice in Clane and Naas

Defence Forces operations staff are liaising with our counterparts at National and Regional Emergency Coordination Group level advising on capabilities and resources available during the emergency period.
