60 Years Peacekeeping1958 - 2018

This year marks the 60th Anniversary of Ireland's first Peacekeeping deployment in 1958.

Since then, Ireland have maintained the longest unbroken service on the front line of peace with over 70,000 individual tours of duty completed by the men and women of Óglaigh na hÉireann.

This year, we remember the 87 members of the Defence Forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of Peace.

The Defence Forces School of Music is currently recruiting instrumentalists for vacancies in the three Defence Forces military bands. Applications are invited from musicians who currently have a minimum playing standard of Grade 7 and who are interested in the challenging and varied musical life that a career in the Defence Forces School of Music offers.

Military instrumentalists are full-time musicians whose primary role is to service the musical requirements of state and military ceremonial. Defence Forces military bands also perform an immensely varied repertoire of concert and ceremonial music at concerts and community events throughout Ireland and abroad.

Applicants must be not less than 18 years of age and under 28 years of age on 29/06/18.
