60 Years Peacekeeping1958 - 2018

This year marks the 60th Anniversary of Ireland's first Peacekeeping deployment in 1958.

Since then, Ireland have maintained the longest unbroken service on the front line of peace with over 70,000 individual tours of duty completed by the men and women of Óglaigh na hÉireann.

This year, we remember the 87 members of the Defence Forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of Peace.

Tuesday 07th October 2014 - Irish Personnel of 44th Infantry Group Return Home .

The 44th Infantry Group will return to Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel, Co Dublin on Tuesday the 07th of October at 11 pm, following a six month tour of duty in the Golan Heights, Syria with the United Nations Disengagement Observation Force (UNDOF).

The personnel will be met by their families and friends. The 44th Infantry Group are drawn primarily from the Army 1 Brigade, with personnel drawn mainly from the South East of the country.

Their replacements, the 46th Infantry Group finished their rotation to Syria this morning and will join their UNDOF colleagues in theatre.
