Tuesday 05 May - Ministerial Review of Lebanon Bound 49th Infantry Group .

Minister of Defence Mr Simon Coveney T.D accompanied by the Chief of Staff of the Defence Forces Lieutenant General Conor O'Boyle, will review the personnel of the 49th Infantry Group on Thursday the 05th of May in Sarsfield Barracks, Limerick.

Commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Ian Byrne, the 189 troops of the 49th Infantry Group have been in training for the past number of weeks and are scheduled to deploy to South Lebanon later this month with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

Drawn primarily from  Munster and Leinster, the 49th Infantry Group will replace the 47th Infantry Group who deployed last November.

The ceremonial occasion will consist of a parade, Ministerial Inspection and address followed by a march past within the barracks. The parade will be attended by the families of 49th Infantry Group personnel and invited guests.
