60 Years Peacekeeping1958 - 2018

This year marks the 60th Anniversary of Ireland's first Peacekeeping deployment in 1958.

Since then, Ireland have maintained the longest unbroken service on the front line of peace with over 70,000 individual tours of duty completed by the men and women of Óglaigh na hÉireann.

This year, we remember the 87 members of the Defence Forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of Peace.

Tuesday 04 September Naval Service Vessel LE Ciara join search for missing diver off the Cork coast .

The Naval Service Vessel LE Ciara, has joined the search for a missing diver twelve miles south of Baltimore Harbour this evening.

It is thought that the diver failed to resurface with colleagues who had been diving in the area. 

The LE Ciara arrived on scene shortly after 7pm following a request from the Valentia Coast Guard and joined other search assets in the area. LE Ciara has now assumed the role of on scene coordinator for the search and will continue its operations until last light and is expected to remain on scene overnight
