The Defence Forces is now accepting applications for General Service in both the Army and Naval Service.

Army applicants must be at least 18 years old and under the age of 25 years of age on the closing date for applications.

Naval Service applicants must be at least 18 years old and under the age of 27 years of age on the closing date for applications.

Both Competitions will close on Sunday 22nd April 2018.

Monday 21st March -Ministerial Review of UNDOF Troops.

The Minister for Defence, Mr. Simon Coveney TD, accompanied by the Chief of Staff of the Defence Forces, Vice Admiral Mark Mellett DSM, will review the 130 men and women of the 52nd Infantry Group ahead of their six month deployment to the Golan Heights as part of the United Nations Disengagement Observation Force (UNDOF).

The 52nd Infantry Group will be the sixth Irish Defence Forces peacekeeping contingent to deploy to the Golan Heights, drawn from 18 different Units across the Army, Air Corps and Naval Service with the majority of personnel drawn from the 27th Infantry Battalion, Dundalk.

The unit will form up in Aiken Barracks, Dundalk and march to Market Square at 1.30 pm. This will be followed by the blessing of the Unit Colours, the Minister's address and ceremonial 'March Past'.
