60 Years Peacekeeping1958 - 2018

This year marks the 60th Anniversary of Ireland's first Peacekeeping deployment in 1958.

Since then, Ireland have maintained the longest unbroken service on the front line of peace with over 70,000 individual tours of duty completed by the men and women of Óglaigh na hÉireann.

This year, we remember the 87 members of the Defence Forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of Peace.

Friday September 14, 2012 - The Air Corps completed an air ambulance mission this afternoon.

The Air Corps completed an air ambulance mission this afternoon, repatriating an Irish Military member of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.

Irish 258, an Air Corp Learjet, departed Beirut at 0610 today with the patient and an Irish Military Medical Team on board and arrived in Casement at 1355 local having refueled in Italy.

The aircraft was met by a Defence Forces ambulance and the patient was transferred by road to a Dublin Hospital. We hope the individual returns to full health shortly and our thoughts are with him and his family at this time.
