60 Years Peacekeeping1958 - 2018

This year marks the 60th Anniversary of Ireland's first Peacekeeping deployment in 1958.

Since then, Ireland have maintained the longest unbroken service on the front line of peace with over 70,000 individual tours of duty completed by the men and women of Óglaigh na hÉireann.

This year, we remember the 87 members of the Defence Forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of Peace.

Friday, 17th November 2017 - Irish Troops Return to Dublin Airport.

230 Irish troops from the 110th Infantry Battalion, United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) will return to T1, Dublin Airport, today, 17th November at 2.20pm, following a six month deployment to South Lebanon.

The personnel will be met by their families and friends. The 110th Infantry Battalion are drawn primarily from 2 Brigade with personnel drawn mainly from the east of the country.

A total of 336 Defence Forces personnel deployed with the 110th Infantry Battalion, 106 personnel have returned home having rotated with members of 111th Infantry Battalion.
