60 Years Peacekeeping1958 - 2018

This year marks the 60th Anniversary of Ireland's first Peacekeeping deployment in 1958.

Since then, Ireland have maintained the longest unbroken service on the front line of peace with over 70,000 individual tours of duty completed by the men and women of Óglaigh na hÉireann.

This year, we remember the 87 members of the Defence Forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of Peace.

Body of missing person recovered by Naval Service Dive Team .

The body of a missing person was recovered by a Naval Service dive team in Cork city this evening.

The Naval Service deployed the team in response to a request from the Gardai.

The team arrived on scene at 3pm and commenced a diving operation in the River Lee in the vicinity of the Thomas Davis Bridge.

The body of a deceased male was recovered at approximately 6pm, and his remains have been brought to Cork University Hospital.
