60 Years Peacekeeping1958 - 2018

This year marks the 60th Anniversary of Ireland's first Peacekeeping deployment in 1958.

Since then, Ireland have maintained the longest unbroken service on the front line of peace with over 70,000 individual tours of duty completed by the men and women of Óglaigh na hÉireann.

This year, we remember the 87 members of the Defence Forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of Peace.

Army Bomb Disposal Team makes safe three viable Improvised Explosive Devices .

An Army Bomb Disposal Team has made safe three viable Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in Dublin this evening.

The Defence Forces deployed the team to a derelict building on Ballystruan Lane, just off Ballymun road in response to a request from the Gardai.

The team arrived on scene at 4.10pm and made safe three viable IEDs which were found in the building. No controlled explosion was carried out.

The devices were removed to a military installation for further examination, following which they will be handed over to the Gardai.

The scene was declared safe at 5.20pm.

This is the 221st call out of Defence Forces Bomb Disposal Teams so far this year.
