Army Bomb Disposal Team makes safe old Munitions in North Strand.

An Army Bomb Disposal Team made safe a quantity of old grenades and artillery shells in North Strand, Dublin today.

The Defence Forces deployed the team to an address at Strandville Avenue, North Strand in response to a request by the Gardai.

A quantity of munitions, including  old grenades and Artillery shells were found during renovations of the premises.

The munitions, which were badly corroded, date back many years, possibly as far back as the War of Independence.

The Team arrived on scene at 11.45am  , made the munitions safe and removed them to a secure location for destruction.

The scene was declared safe at 3.15pm.
