60 Years Peacekeeping1958 - 2018

This year marks the 60th Anniversary of Ireland's first Peacekeeping deployment in 1958.

Since then, Ireland have maintained the longest unbroken service on the front line of peace with over 70,000 individual tours of duty completed by the men and women of Óglaigh na hÉireann.

This year, we remember the 87 members of the Defence Forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of Peace.

29 March, 2014 - The Air Corps CASA Aircraft completed aTime-Critical Air Ambulance.

The Air Corps Duty Officer received the Priority 1 request to transfer a young patient to a London Hospital from the National Aeromedical Coordination Centre at 4.30pm.

The fixed wing stand-by crew were contacted immediately and mission planning commenced so the CASA Maritime Patrol Aircraft was ready to depart for London at 5.55pm.

The aircraft , call sign 'Irish 252' arrived in Heathrow just after 9pm and the patient completed their journey to the London hospital by road, arriving within the required time-frame.

Tonight's flight marks the 22th inter-hospital air ambulance carried out by the Defence Forces this year.
