60 Years Peacekeeping1958 - 2018

This year marks the 60th Anniversary of Ireland's first Peacekeeping deployment in 1958.

Since then, Ireland have maintained the longest unbroken service on the front line of peace with over 70,000 individual tours of duty completed by the men and women of Óglaigh na hÉireann.

This year, we remember the 87 members of the Defence Forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of Peace.

22 Jan 2015 - Naval Service Diving Section recover body.

The Naval Service Diving Section recovered the body of a man in the Nore river, Thomastown at 1230 today.

The man had been missing since Sunday the 18th of January 2015.

A search party of 51 soldiers from the 3rd Infantry Battalion, Stephens Barracks, Kilkenny also assisted with the search over the last 48 hours.

The Defence Forces offer condolences to the family of the deceased.
