The Air Corps is now accepting applications for the Apprentice Military Aircraft Technician scheme. We are looking for motivated people who enjoy working as part of a Team.

Successful candidates will become an integral part of the Air Corps maintenance team providing technical support to the Air Corps fleet.

Successful candidates will graduate with a Bachelor of Engineering Technology in Military Aviation Technology Level 7 (Tech), accredited by the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT).

All members of the Defence Forces have been located following a terrorist attack at Le Campement Hotel in Dougourakoro, Mali.

Two members of the Defence Forces had been at Le Campement Hotel when the attack occurred. They have subsequently returned to the European Union Training Mission’s Headquarters in Bamako.

On 18 February 2013, at the request of the Malian authorities, and in accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2085 (2012), the European Union launched a training mission for Malian armed forces, EUTM Mali. The objective of the mission is to train and mentor the Malian Armed Forces to improve their military capacity and their effectiveness in guaranteeing the country's territorial integrity. Training is also being provided in international humanitarian law, the protection of civilians and human rights.

On 26 February 2013, the Government approved the deployment of members of the Defence Force for service with EUTM Mali. Currently, eighteen (18) Irish personnel are serving with EUTM Mali. Seven (7) Irish personnel occupy staff appointments in the mission Headquarters in Bamako. Eleven (11) Irish personnel are based in Koulikoro Training Centre.
