10 September 2013 - Army Bomb Disposal Team Render Viable Improvised Explosive Device Safe.

An Army Bomb Disposal Team rendered safe a viable Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on the Malahide Road this afternoon.

The Defence Forces deployed the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team in response to a request from the Gardaí­ Sí­ochána after a suspect device was found in a cemetery on the Malahide - Baldoyle Road.

The team arrived on scene at 2.20 pm. A cordon and traffic restrictions were put in place for public safety. The device was then taken to an open green area nearby and made safe via a controlled explosion. The scene was declared safe at 3.50 pm.

There were no graves or gravestones damaged in the course of this operation.
