60 Years Peacekeeping1958 - 2018

This year marks the 60th Anniversary of Ireland's first Peacekeeping deployment in 1958.

Since then, Ireland have maintained the longest unbroken service on the front line of peace with over 70,000 individual tours of duty completed by the men and women of Óglaigh na hÉireann.

This year, we remember the 87 members of the Defence Forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of Peace.

07 September 2015 - Reserve Defence Forces Recruitment.

The Defence Forces are now accepting applications for the Reserve Defence Forces, both Army Reserve and Naval Service Reserve.

The campaign is seeking to recruit young men and women from all backgrounds and ethnic groups that possess a strong sense of duty and enjoy working as part of a team. Personnel recruited in the current campaign will have significant opportunities for training and personal development.

The Defence Forces are committed to full equality among all personnel irrespective of gender, ethnicity or sexual orientation. The new recruitment competition will be run through a centralised online application system on the Defence Forces website www.military.ie. There are 25 Army Reserve locations to choose from and 4 Naval Service Reserve locations. The competition will remain open until further notice.

Candidates must be 18 years of age and under 35 years of age on date of enlistment.
