07 November 2013 - Army Bomb Disposal Team Renders Safe Three Viable Improvised Explosive Devices.

An Army Bomb Disposal Team rendered safe three viable improvised explosive devices in the Ballysheedy area of Limerick this morning.

The Defence Forces deployed the Team in response to a Garda request, after a number of suspicious objects were found by them during a search.

The three devices were located in an unoccupied house in a rural area. Due to the location, there was no requirement to evacuate other properties but a cordon was put in place for public safety.

The Team arrived on scene at 6 am and rendered the three devices safe in situ without the need for a controlled explosion. All items of an evidential nature were then handed over to the Garda√≠¬≠ to assist them in their investigation.  The area was declared safe at 7.30am and the Team returned to base.
