06 June 2015 - LÉ EITHNE Rescues a further 89 Migrants.

Having rescued 310 persons on a barge this morning, at 5 pm the LÉ EITHNE successfully located and rescued migrants on 2 inflatable craft with 89 persons on board, 75 kilometres north of Libya.

Conditions at the time were good with the operation commencing at 5pm, completed by 6.50 pm.

There are now 399 rescuees on board; 280 males, 78 females and 41 children.

The LÉ EITHNE is awaiting direction from the Italian Maritime Rescue Co-Ordination Centre for next tasking.

4.10 pm 07 June 2015 - LÉ EITHNE Sailing Towards Taranto, Italy with 399 Rescuees On Board

Having rescued 310 persons on a barge on the morning of the 06th of June 2015, at 5 pm yesterday afternoon the LÉ EITHNE successfully located and rescued additional migrants on 2 inflatable crafts with 89 persons on board, 75 kilometres north of Libya.

There are now 399 rescuees on board the LÉ EITHNE; 280 males, 78 females and 41 children.

The LÉ EITHNE has been directed by the Italian Maritime Rescue Co-Ordination Centre to transfer the migrants to Taranto Port, Italy. The LÉ EITHNE is expected to arrive in port at 8am (Local) 07th of June.
