60 Years Peacekeeping1958 - 2018

This year marks the 60th Anniversary of Ireland's first Peacekeeping deployment in 1958.

Since then, Ireland have maintained the longest unbroken service on the front line of peace with over 70,000 individual tours of duty completed by the men and women of Óglaigh na hÉireann.

This year, we remember the 87 members of the Defence Forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of Peace.

Sunday 29 July - Air Corps Medically Evacuate Two Casualties.

An Air Corps AW139, operating in support of Mountain Rescue Ireland, has medically evacuated ("Medivaced") two casualties from Croagh Patrick who were taking part in the annual Reek Sunday Pilgrimage.

At approx 10.30 am a`male cardiac patient was taken from the mountain to University College Hospital Galway.

At approx 3.45 pm a female was airlifted from half way up the mountain was taken to Mayo General Hospital, Castlebar.

In addition to the two Air Corps pilots and crewman the helicopter has a Mountain Rescue Doctor and Paramedic on board.

The helicopter will remain in location until last light tonight.
