The Equitation School can can boast having many experienced and highly trained personel. These personnel are not only riders but personnel experienced in the field of equine management and care.

Showjumping Rider Profiles

Captain Michael Kelly

Captain Kelly is from Carrickedmond, Co. Longford.  Michael joined the Cadet School in 2001 to begin his training as an Army Officer. He competed at National level showjumping before joining the Defence Forces.  His other interests include Gaelic Football, reading and music.

Capt Kelly will be competing on the 2013 European Showjumping circuit & National Grand Prix circuit with Annestown, Mo Chroi, Kiltoom, Ringwood Abbey, Starboard, Ringwood Glen & Mullentine Loughgall

Lt David Power

Lt Power is from Kilkenny City.  David attended Kilkenny College before joining the Cadet School in 2008 to begin his training as an Army Officer. He competed at National level showjumping before joining the Defence Forces. His other interests include rugby and soccer.

Lt Power is competing on the 2013 National Showjumping Circuit Dollanstown, Carnagh, Carigorran,Warrenstown & Tullybawn.

Three Day Eventing Riding Officer Profiles

Captain Geoffrey Curran

Captain Curran is from Fenar, co. Waterford.  Geof attended CBS Tramore before joining the Cadet School in 1999 to begin his training as an Army Officer. Before joining the Defence Forces he competed in pony and horse showjumping classes at National Level. He also won a Spillers Golden Saddle Award in 1998. His other interests include soccer and hurling.

Capt Curran is the Senior Riding Officer in the Equitation School. He will be competing on the 2013 International Eventing circuit with Shanaclough Crecora, The Jump Jet & Bolabaun. Capt Curran will also compete on the 2013 National Grand Prix circuit with Mullabane & Shannondale Rahona. 

Captain Curran’s stable of horses also includes; Forever Young.

Captain Brian Curran-Cournane

Captain Curran Cournane is from Glenbeigh, Co. Kerry. Brian attended Rockwell College before joining the Cadet School in 2000 to begin his training as an Army Officer.  He competed at National level showjumping before joining the Defence Forces.  His other interests include running and reading.

Captain Curran Cournane will be competing on the 2013 International Eventing circuit with Dunran Castle, Rosbeigh, Stonehaven Tonduff & Ferns. Capt Curran Cournane will also compete on the 2013 National showjumping circuit with Deerpairc

Captain Curran Cournane’s stable of horses also includes; Rossbeigh and Deerpairc, Stonehaven Smartie and Curraguneen Royal Diamond.
