Army Uniform

The Army have several dress categories that are worn at various times during military life.


Service Dress no.1

Commissioned Officers number 1 DressService Dress no.1 is worn on special occasions including ceremonial engagements.

Officers

Officers wear a Peaked Cap, green tunic and trousers, brown shoes, and sam brown belt and brown leather gloves.

Cavalry Officers wear a Glengarry with black ribbon), green tunic and trousers, brown boots and brown belt (sam browne) and brown leather gloves.

The image shown right is that of a Captain from the 5th Infantry Battalion.

NCOs and Privates

Enlisted Personnel number 1 DressEnlisted Personnel wear a Black Beret (Head wear for the Military Police is a Peak Cap with red band.

Cavalry wear a Glengarry with black ribbon, green tunic and trousers, black boots and white ceremonial belt and white gloves.

Women wear a special green cap.

Military Police wear a red green peak cap with a black peak and red band.

Service Dress no.2 is worn during formal engagements other than ceremonial.

Officers

Officers wear a Peaked Cap, green tunic and trousers, brown shoes, and cloth belt.

NCOs and Privates

Enlisted Personnel wear a Black Beret, green tunic and trousers, black boots and cloth belt.

Field Dress

Field Dress is worn on a day to day basis for normal duties as well as for operational assignments. This mode of dress comprises of a DPM (disruptive pattern material) smock, shirt and trousers and combat boots.

A vest, fleece coat and thermal shirt can also be worn depending on the weather conditions.

A Beret is normally worn, but a helmet or light weight cap can be worn depending on the conditions.

Combat Equipment Fighting Order

Photo of Combat Equipment Fighting OrderCombat Equipment Fighting Order or CEFO (Pronounced as "See-Foh") is the name given to the set of Combat webbing (pouches) worn in addition to Field Dress.

This webbing holds a water bottle and ammunition as well gas mask, emergency rations, bayonet, waterproof clothes and entrenching tools.

CEFO is less cumbersome than CEMO and allows the soldier to operate away from base for a short period of time before a resupply is necessary.

Combat Equipment Marching Order

Photo of Combat Equipment Marching OrderCombat Equipment Marching Order or CEMO (Pronounced as "See-Moh") is the name given to the set of full Combat webbing including Backpack worn in addition to Field Dress.

This webbing contains all essential equipment required by the soldier to operate on the ground either independently or as part of a team for a period of time.

CEMO holds items such as sleeping bag, kip matt, spare clothes, rations, spare ammunition, entrenching tool and much more depending on the mission paramenters and operating conditions.
