Captain Curran hails from Fenar, Co. Waterford. He joined the Cadet School in 1999 to begin his training as an Army Officer. He competed in pony and horse classes at a national level. He was placed at the RDS in the young horse classes and also won a Spillers Golden Saddle Award in 1998.
