Army Weapons - 25 Pound field gun

Designed and built by the Royal Ordnance factories in the United Kingdom, it is remembered as one of the best field guns used during the second world war. An extremely versatile weapon, it can be used as a direct fire weapon, howitzer and also in the anti-tank role by dropping the circular base plate to the ground enabling it to traverse through 360 degrees.
The 25 pounder is fitted with a telescopic sight for engaging armoured vehicles and other targets in the direct fire role as well as the standard sight for indirect fire. The large gunshield gave cover for the gunners.
Each gun is equipped with a limber (trailer) which has the capacity to carry 32 rounds as well as tools and other equipment.
The 25 pounder field gun is operated to field Artillery units of the Army Reserve.
